THE LIVING WORD OF GOD:
NEW AMERICAN BIBLE (NABRE)
Romans 10:17 shares with us that "faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 encourages us to prepare ourselves with God’s Word, so that we can be equipped to do His will - rather than fulfill our own earthly desires- and know the difference between the two:
“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
The New American Bible (NAB) is a Bible translation first published in 1970. It had its beginnings in the Confraternity Bible, which began to be translated from the original languages in 1948 following Pope Pius XII's encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu. It was specifically translated into English by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine under the liturgical principles and reforms of the Second Vatican Council, which opened on October 11, 1962 and closed on December 8, 1965.
On March 9, 2011, the fourth edition of the New American Bible was released/published. This latest text, known as the "New American Bible, revised edition" or “NABRE,” includes the newly revised Old Testament, as well as the revised New Testament from the second edition (1986).
